It drives traffic <em>and<\/em> made the client\u2019s product go viral.<\/p>\n<p>So how can <em>you<\/em> get results like that?<\/p>\n<p>Write a targeted Facebook ad.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/mixergy.com\/master-class-buying-facebook-ads\/\">his Mixergy course<\/a>, Jesse shows you how he does it. Here are three strategies you\u2019ll learn in the course.<\/p>\n<h2>1. Use a Fine Scalpel<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-30034 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/mixergy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mixergy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/1.png 198w, https:\/\/mixergy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/1-140x121.png 140w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 198px) 100vw, 198px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll never see beer commercials in the middle of a daytime soap opera. Or diaper commercials during a the Superbowl.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s because it\u2019s a waste of money to show your ads to people who don\u2019t want or need your product.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the same with Facebook ads. People outside your target audience probably won&#8217;t click on your ads. And even if they do, they won&#8217;t buy.<\/p>\n<p>That can get expensive because, as Jesse says, \u201cyou\u2019re still paying for the click at the end of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So how do you make sure your ads reach the right people?<\/p>\n<h3>Cut Out the Ones Who Will Never Buy<\/h3>\n<p>Decide who to advertise to before you run your ad, then cut the rest.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We think of it as a fine scalpel rather than a broader stroke,&#8221; says Jesse.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook\u2019s tools can help you target someone\u2019s interests, education, and even the company they work for. For example, for a site like Ties.com, Jesse says to think about who buys ties and for what purpose: \u201cMaybe it\u2019s people who work in finance, people who work on Wall Street, people who work in sales&#8230;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He recommends narrowing your group to about 40,000 people, small enough to write a targeted ad, but still large enough to reach a lot of prospects.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Shiny Doesn\u2019t Sell<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-30035\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/mixergy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mixergy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/2.png 225w, https:\/\/mixergy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/2-140x105.png 140w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Your ad has to grab attention. But you have to do it the <em>right<\/em> way.<\/p>\n<p>Jesse says that although you can use cheap gimmicks to get attention, they don\u2019t convert into sales.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust showing a hot girl for the sake of showing a hot girl is not going to get you what you want,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>Jesse speaks from experience. \u201cOne of the first ads we did was something like that, and it was great to get clicks but terrible to get conversions,\u201d he says. \u201cUnless clicks are the only thing you care about, then that kind of stuff is a waste of time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So how do you get their attention the right way?<\/p>\n<h3>Have a Relevant Hook<\/h3>\n<p>Write ads that speak to your specific customer.<\/p>\n<p>Jesse says instead of an ad that starts, \u201cHey, people in finance,\u201d you might say, \u201cHey, New York financiers\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople in finance\u201d is too general and sounds pretty scammy. But the \u201cNew York financiers\u201d is customized. It speaks directly to New York financiers and makes them think, \u201cThis is something specifically for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>3. You Have to Play the Game<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-30036\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/mixergy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"218\" height=\"145\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mixergy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/3.png 218w, https:\/\/mixergy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/3-140x93.png 140w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 218px) 100vw, 218px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Your ad has only been up for two days, and suddenly, it\u2019s gone. Poof! Vanished from Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>Why? Jesse says when your ad\u2019s performance drops, Facebook throws it out of their system.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s because Facebook\u2019s goals are different from your goals. \u201cYour goal is to acquire qualified clicks or qualified customers at a good price,\u201d says Jesse. \u201cBut Facebook is looking to get the most dollar-per-impression they can get.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And Facebook only cares about <em>Facebook\u2019s<\/em> goals.<\/p>\n<p>So how do you achieve <em>your<\/em> goals within <em>their<\/em> system?<\/p>\n<h3>Make It a Win-Win<\/h3>\n<p>You have to make Facebook happy by increasing your click-through rate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I can get my click-through rate up from 0.03% to 0.04%, I\u2019m looking at making Facebook more money,\u201d says Jesse. \u201cFacebook likes to make more money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also, by increasing click-through rates by 0.01%, you keep your cost-per-click low, says Jesse: \u201cIt\u2019s the equivalent of you essentially raising your bid by 25%.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Written by April Dykman.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jesse Pujji wrote an ad for his client that consistently generates $10,000 a month.<\/p>\n<p>Jesse, founder of performance marketing company Ampush, says it\u2019s successful because it\u2019s a \u201cone-two punch\u201d.
